The Postman’s Lot.
Dear Sir.—Pity the poor postman sweating in the heat with his load daily growing larger and the pavements growing hotter as we get on to Christmas. In a climate like this there ought to be some variation in the regulation uniform to permit a man some comfort in the heat of summer. He has to wear the same heavy uniform as in winter, and is not even allow’ed to unbutton it at the top. If postmen were fourle KB e d packhorses instead of two-legged ones the S.P.C.A. would have had a nice little bone to chew, but as it is the department still functions with unthinking heartlessness. I am, etc., GOLDEN RULE.
