TOTE SYSTEMS.

Four Different Methods in Use for Holidays. (Special to the “Star.") AUCKLAND, This Day. No fewer than four different betting systems will be used at the coming holiday race meetings in New Zealand. Some clubs will have the single pool, with two dividends of 75 and 25 per cent. Others will use the single pool with three dividends of 70. 20 and 10 per cent. Then others again will employ the win and place method, with one pool for a win and one for a place, with 33 1-3 per cent for each of the three placed horses. The Stratford Racing Club is first in the field with a fourth system, namely one pool for a win and one for two dividends, 75 and 25 per cent. Permission to clubs to adopt this method was given by the Racing Conference last July. Unless the committee at its next meeting on December 19 decides otherwise, the Auckland Trotting Club will revert to the single pool, with two dividends, for its Christmas carnival. Win and place was used in October, but that was in the nature of an experiment for the one meeting. The Auckland Racing Club is adhering to the single pool, with two divi--dends. NOT ENTERTAINED. An application by the Dargaville Racing Club for a change of dates and for permission to race on another club’s course was not entertained by the Auckland District Racing Committee at its monthly meeting. An application by the Bay of Islands Racing Club for permission to race away from Kawakawa was deferred.
