DANCE RECITAL.
Miss D. Manhire’s Pupils Perform. GOOD BALLETS AND SOLOISTS. One© again the pupils of Miss Dorothy Manhire upheld their reputation as versatile and clever dancers when they held their annual recital in the Radiant Hall last evening. The programme presented was varied and was well received by the large audience, who showed their appreciation in no half-hearted manner. The ballets were good, both in rhythm and style, and in every case captured tb© spirit of the dance. The brisk, military marches were rendered with a swing, and the slower more classical ballets were given gracefully and evenly. The solos too, were well presented, the dancers showing an appreciation of the “ Poetry of motion,” and adapting themselves easily to the different styles. One of the outstanding ballets was “ A-Hunting We Will Go,” the girls being dressed in tailed coats of hunting pink, white ballet skirts and trim little jockey caps or Robin Hood hats of the pink. The soloists, Misses Joan Joyce and Freda Manhire, received much applause for their spirited rendering of the dance. “An Aspiring Dishwasher ” was given by Jean Penrose, who proved her aptitude for burlesque, while “ A Rain Fairy,” by Billie Barsby, and a doll dance by Gwynda Chappell were also worthy of note. A delightful few minutes were devoted to the tiny tots, who are always one of the features of the programme, and several songs were also enjoyed. The Programme. The programme was as follows:—In a .
