Reports and Returns on Operations. BLACKWATER MINES. (Special to the “Star.”) REKFTON, December 6. Blackwater Mines return for November:— Crushed 3840 tons, yielding 1730 fine ounces of gold. Value, at 13 9s per oz, £12,023. Working costs £5664. Working profit £6359. Development £1069, capital £1207. No. 10 lewel, advanced 55ft. No. 11 level: 21ft of reef, averaging 24in, 10 dwts. Northern limit along ore body reached. No 12 level: 127 ft, 95ft being on reef 16in width, of lldwt value. Prohibition shaft—Plat cutting. Aerial made good progress. Bismarck Range. Euratha Gold Mine. Ltd., reports that, in the first crushing approximately 600 tons of ore of an average head value of under odwt was treated for a recovery of 161 oz bullion. The directors state that the treatment operations to date have been largely to try out the plant. The plant was charged up with highly diluted ore, and the percentage of recovery, they state, dispels any doubt as to the plant being suitable for treatment of Euratha ore. Minerva Mine. (Special to the “ Star.’’) BLACKBALL, December 6. A visit was paid to the Minerva mine hv Messrs O’Donnell and M’Vicar (directors) and J. S. Robertson to inspect the finishing touches with a view to starting operations within the next week. The work, which has been under the supervision of Mr George M’Alpine, is completed with the exception of the coupling up of the electric motors. The mining will he worked by contract and tenders are now open for the mining of the quartz. This mine, which is some five miles from Blackball, was worked about 40 years ago. but owing to lack of capital and water trouble, was abandoned. The coupling up of the Grey electric power has alleviated this trouble and with the up-to-date electric plant that has been installed no further trouble is likely. The capital of the company is £SOOO. The Unemployment Board has helped in every way possible and now has gangs of men under the supervision of the Public Works Department. renovating the old road from Blackball to the mine.

At the wool sales 9783 bales were offered, including 3405 from New Zealand. A total of 6836 Australian and New Zealand bales were sold. Good Home and Continental support was forthcoming, with full recent rates maintained. New Zealand lots sold as follows: Greasy half-bred. J F. (top price 10id), average 10Sd; half-bred lamb slipe. Balclutha, ll*d. General Competition at Sydney. SYDNEY. December 6 At the wool sales to-dav 10.631 bales were offered and 8594 sold, while 2211» bales were sold privately. There was general competition, all sections participating and the market was firm. Greasy merino made 15id and comeback to 15id, the latter equalling the best price of the season. In Wellington To-morrow. The first Wellington wool sale will be held in the Town Hall to-morrow. Owing to the reduced offering it has been arranged by the Wellington Woolbrokers’ Association and the New Zealand Woolbuyers’ Association that the sale will start at 9 a m., instead of 8 a m., as previously fixed. It is expected that approximately 16.000 bales will be offered. as compared ; with 30,208 bales at the December sale last year. The New Zealand Wool Committee s limit fixed for Saturday’s sale was 25,000 bales. DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKET Reilly's Central Produce Mart, Dunedin, report by telegraph:—The market is bare of choice Delicious, which realise 7s to 9s. Slurmers realise 8s fid to 9s. and cooking apples 6s. Early consignments of choice fruit will realise good values, but wasty and brownhearted fruit is unsaleable. Choice quality pears are selling at Bs. Tomatoes command good values at from 9d to Is for first grade, and others from 7d to Bd. Asparagus unfortunately is arriving in sweated condition and is quite useless. Gooseberries. choice quality, realise 2d; green peas, 2d to 3d: good hard-hearted lettuce, is fid to 2? fid dozen; black and red currents. 1d to sd; potatoes. l}d to 2d. Choice cherries arc realising 5d to 9d, and cherry plums 2d to 3)d. The demand at the moment is for choice dessert apples, green peas and prime lettuce. Spring carrots are realising is 6d «. dozen.
