IRENE SELECTED.

Will Defend Sanders Cup at Stewart Island. Irene will represent Canterbury in the Sanders Cup contest to be sailed at Stewart Island next month, starting on January 24. E. O. Sinclair, who successfully defended the cup in Irene last February’ at Lyttelton, will be skipper once more. Sinclair will recommend a crew to the Sanders Cup Committee of the Canterbury’ Sailing and Power Boat Association for consideration. His crew at the last contest comprised F. Forman (spinnaker hand), H. May and S. Fisher. Irene won all three trials this season convincingly, and Sinclair showed that he must have few equals in the matter of skill in handling fourteen-footers, so that Canterburv’s chances are bright for the racing next month.
