PROSPERITY FAIR.
£6O Raised for Linwood Baptist Church. The building mortgage on the Linwood Baptist church will be reduced by nearly £6O as a result of the Prosperity Fair held in the church on Friday and Saturday evenings. Mr R. G. Weallens (chairman and secretary of the Church Committee) and Mr J. B. Wilby (secretary) were in charge of the arrangements. Those in charge of the various stalls were: Work stall, Mrs Felton; tea-rooms, Mrs Le Page: cakes, Mrs Collyer; sweets. Miss James; produce, Messrs Perry and Collyer; magic fireplace, Mrs Marsden and Girls’ Bible Class; white elephant, Mr J. B. Wilby; books, Boys’ Bible Class; ice-cream and soft drinks, Mr N. Pizzey; coconut shy, Mr A. Campbell. On Saturday evening an entertainment was given by Mrs B. L. Windsor and party. The following items were given: Dances, Lois M’Clean; duets, Margaret and J. Rule; recitations, Margaret Weatherhead, Lois M’Clean, Leona Lewis and Joe Rube; solo, Leona Lewis: humorous character duet, Rlso and Margaret Rube; story without words, Margaret and Jessie Leslie and Thelma Sparrow.
