Course Record Lowered. Per Press Association. OAMARU, December 3. On the Awamoa links in beautiful weather this afternoon, Gene Sarazen played an exhibition match, in which he lowered the course record by six strokes, with a brilliant round of 68. Partnered with J. A. R. Scott, the local champion, Sarazen finished 4 up and 2 against A. J. Shaw, New Zealand open champion, and E. Dalton, the local professional. Sarazen went out In 37 and played great golf to come home in 31, including four consecutive birdies. Shaw’s round was a solid 75. His long game was sound, but he missed easy shots on the green. Sarazen, ccmmenting on the links, stated that the greens were better than any he had played on in Australia.
