WARNING TO BATHERS.

Dressing Over a Wet Costume. A warning was given by a doctor today against the practice followed by some bathers of putting on their clothes over a wet bathing costume. “ This may seem an admirable way to keep oneself cool in such hot weather as we have been enjoying, but it is dangerous to health,” he said. The doctor made it clear that safetyfirst principles in regard to bathing did not stop with taking care while in the water. To put on clothes over a wet bathing costume insulated the body against a return to an even temperature, and the result could quite easily be a chill.

A pain in the small of the back, indicating a chill in the kidneys, was a penalty often paid for getting dressed with a damp costume next to the skin.
