Work at Selwyn House Progressing. ANNUAL MEETING OF P.N.E.U. The annual meeting of the Parents’ National Educational Union was held in the Canterbury Women's Club, through the courtesy of the president and executive, Mesdames Norton Francis, J. I. Smail and E. C. Gough being the hostesses. Huge bowls of roses ant? vases of tall delphiniums were arranged attractively about the reception room, while small vases of mixed flowers graced the little tables. At the conclusion of the meeting, a delightful programme was given. The programme included songs by Mrs R. JM’Laren, a sketch, ** Lost Property,” by Miss Sylvia Collins and Miss Miriam Pearce; a play. “Snowed Up with the Duchess,” by Mesdames F. M. Orchard and 4 J. W. Palk, Misses E. Blackliam and E. Jones, and a pianoforte group by Mr Gordon Anderson. Mrs J. Cullman was the accompanist. Supper was later served. Annual Report. The thirteenth annual report, presented by the president, stated that the year had been a good one, and the branch had been able to pay the extra bank exchange, and so avoided increasing the subscription. Thanks were expressed to Mrs Henry Wyatt, the treasurer. for the able and efficient manner in which she had carried out her duties of honorary treasurer; to Mrs Leslie Averill, for her secretarial duties and for arranging an interesting programme of lectures; and to Mr Arnaud M’Kellar for auditing the balance-sheet. The report also stated that during the year new home schoolrooms had been started. Gratitude was expressed to the lecturers, and thanks were also extended to the hostesses during the Interest in Selwyn House continued unabated, and it was decided that in future no separate matriculation classes would be held. It had been decided to begin a boarding establishment in connection wi.h the school, which would be ready for next term. Congratulations were extended to Miss Jean Holderness on her appointment as principal of the school. The balance-sheet, showing a small but satisfactory credit balance, was read by the treasurer. Mrs Averill expressed the appreciation of members of the work done by Mrs Norton Francis as president of the Election of Officers. The following officers were re-elect-ed:—President, Mrs Norton Francis; vice-presidents, Mesdames J. R. Foster, A. K. Firth. J. H. Hall, Edwin Hay. E. C. Gough, J. A. Meikle, P. Overton, George Weston, J. H. Williams, B. E. H. Whitcombe. R. Vincent and P. F. Mann (advisory director, representing the Selwyn House Board of Governors, in the place of Dr John Guthrie). Misses J.
