LEVEL CROSSINGS.
Abolition to Be Aimed at in Britain. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, November 29. In order to expedite the abolition of level crossings in Britain, the Minister of Transport (Major L. IToreBelisha) will make a grant to local authorities from the road fund of 75 per cent of the cost of constructing road bridges railways. This statement was made by the Minister when asked in Parliament whether, in view of this week’s railway accident at a level crossing at Wormley, in which the engine-driver and fireman lost their lives, he would take measures to abolish level crossings. The Minister explained that the road across the railway at this place was not a public one, but a private farm track.
