“RANKED WITH KAFFIRS.”
Effect of Body line Bowling on Australians. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, This Day. It would be interesting to know just how much trade has been lost to Australia through bodyline bowling, said an Australian, Mr A. R. Garling, formerly of 2FC, Sydney, in an interview to-day. During the war the Australian in England was “ ace-high ” with all classes, but now, due to the bodyline controversy, he was ranked by the masses with the Kaffirs. Among business men, who know Australia, there is none of this feeling, but among the masses the Australian is liable to be openly insulted. In Scotland, where everyone one meets appears to have a relative who is making money in Australia, the Australians are splendidly received.
