SOUTH BRIGHTON GALA.

Arrangements in Hand for Big Event. A meeting of the committee set up by the South Brighton Progress League to organise the South Brighton Gala was held in the South Brighton Surf Club’s pavilion last night. Mr S. J. Grammar presided in the absence of Mr F- Woodward. Mrs C. Sawtell (convener) reported the successful organisation of the women’s committee. It was decided that the organiser (Mr H. Robinson) approach various firms regarding a mannequin parade and report to the next meeting. Mr A Lawson reported that Mr A. S. Xicholls had given permission for posters to be displayed in a vacant shop at the corner of Sea View Ro»d and union Street. Thanks were extended to the Pleasant Point Yachi Club, Mrs G. Weavers and Mr P. Buist for offers to lend coppers and -frames. It was decided that a letter be sent to the Christchurch Tramway Board asking that excursion fares operate on the day of the gala.
