ON ’CHANGE.

Many Sales in N.Z. Refrigerating. RESERVE BANK UP. NO BUSINESS IN MINING SECTION. Although little interest was taken in the mining section on ’Change this morning, no business being put through at all, the investment sections of the market were moderately active, and sales were representative. More "buying offers have come in for banking scrip during the last few days, and this morning quotations were active, but business in only one issue was recorded. New South Wales still had requests at a fraction over .£32. and sellers were offering at £32 7s 6d. The insurance section was again strong, quotations being at late rates. Selling limits for Dalgety and Co. remained unaltered at £9, and a buyer came in Is 6d below without business resulting. Sellers appeared firm at the higher level. Goldsbrough Mort gave the appearance of more stability, the market closing from 29s 3d to 29s 6d. The most active stock of the market was N.Z. Refrigerating Co., both the fully paid and contributing ussues doing good business, the former at an advanced level. Buyers finished firm at 20s 2d, sellers Id above. New Zealand Breweries, after steady business at 49s 3'esterday, were again in request at that rate, but sellers stayed od away. Staples were also firm w-ith a bu) r er in at 30s 9d. sellers wide away. British Tobacco failed to hold the latest rates, but were still selling at high levels. The scrip was on offer at 42s Sd at the close of business, the best buyer bidding 4d behind. Other interesting quotations in the miscellaneous section were Australian Glass, which held yesterday’s levels; and Dun-lop-Perdriau, the market for which narrowed between 19s lOd and 20s. New Zealand Newspapers buyers at 32s 9d had no response at all from sellers. Quill Morris (in liquidation) continued to creep up, and gained fractionally on buying and selling quotations; and Wool worths, Victoria (pref.C which until recently sold at 28s, were firmer with sellers at 31s, no buyers. A quiet mining section was notable mainly for the narrowing quotations of Murray Creek, sellers coming down further to 9s, buyers still fairly steady at 3s lower. Mount L3 r ell again showed an indication to firm, and Golden Dawn were also improving. Skippers remained unaltered; and Worksop Extended, despite the second dividend announcement, had no buyers in reply to selling offers at 3s sd. In the unlisted section. Woolworths. Ltd. On the Stock Exchange to-day classified stocks, especially brewery and steamship issues, were strong, but Australian Government securities were quiet as the result of an official suggestion, made in connection with the closing of the recent £15.000.000 loan, that interest rates bad t>robably touened their lowest point. This caused a sympathetic easing of gas shares.
