LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

Australian Team Invited to Visit N.Z. (Special to the ** Star.”) AUCKLAND, This Day. At a special meeting of the New Zealand Rugby League last evening it was decided to extend an invitation to an Australian or State representative team to visit New Zealand early next season. Mr A. Ferguson pressed for a straight-out invitation to an Australian representative team. Private advice stated that a New Zealand team should visit Australia by way of a return visit. Mr W. O. Carlaw expressed the opinion that any tour should be restricted to three matches in the North Island and one representative game in the South Island. He suggested that two test matches should be played in Auckland only.

The question was deferred pending a reply from the Australian Board of Control.
