GARDEN JUDGING.
First Inspection at New Brighton. Out of the eighty members belonging to the New Brighton Home Gardens and Beautif.ving Association eighteen entered for the competition which this year was restricted to those who did not employ labour. It is expected that separate classes and prizes will be allotted for next year’s competition to enable those who employ' labour to enter their gardens. The judges were Professor Shelley and Messrs Gilpin and Marshall, who were accompanied on their tour of inspection by Mr T. S. Ainsworth and Mr B. H. Dean, members of the management committee of the association. The gardens inspected were in the following order:—Captain A. W. Owles, Mrs W. M’Fadden, Mr F. E. Drake, Mr T. A. Stephens, Mrs C. Hudson, Mr W. Watts, Mr C. Chapman. Mrs 11. O. Brookes, Mrs B. 11. Dean, Mrs 11. T Goodland, Mrs S. M. March, Mrs W. 11. Bellamy, Mr A. E, Beardsley, Miss A M’lntosh. Mr N. Xevland, Mr J. Westerman, Mrs S. Margilts and Mrs F. J. Bromley. The results of the /judging will not be announced till after the second judging which will take place on Februarv 6 next.
