TOWN PLANNING INSTITUTE
The Christchurch Branch of the Town Planning Institute of New Zealand met last evening, Mr A. R, Galbraith presiding over a good attendance. Mr V. J. Hean submitted a report on the activities of the Smoke Abatement Commission, which consists of representatives of the Institute and the &unUght Leagt*e. He stated that the members of the commission had paid a visit to the new Methodist Orphanage in Papanui, where smokeless ovens of a new type had been installed. Visits had also been paid to several factories, and investigations had been made of numerous places in the city.
