The army authorities here say that they were told by Sir Charles Kingsford Smith that he plans a speed flight | from Oakland to Australia. Sir Charles i plans to cover the 7400 miles in 36 j hours, flying via Oakland, Honolulu, I Suva and Brisbane. 1 The army authorities understand that Sir Charles plans to make the flight in April or May and has asked Captain P. G. Taylor to be his navigator. Sir Charles claims that he can make the trip from Oakland to Honolulu in twelve hours, with a night landing at Wheeler Field, and Suva before dark the following day and thence to Australia in eight hours. Sir Charles held a secret conference here with army technical experts and secured their advice. Army officials understand that he may obtain a bi-motored Lockheed Electra for his attempt.
