OBITUARY.

T. R. Tripe.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON*, November 5. Mr Thomas Richard Tripe died at Rotorua last night, aged sixty-seven. He was a member of a well-known Wellington family. Deceased had gone to Rotorua to see his brother, Mr A. 11. Tripe, prior to leaving on a trip to Tasmania, when he became suddenly ill and died. Mr Tripe was born at Rangiora in 1867. being the fifth son of the late Dr William Borrondale Tripe. Coming to Wellington with his parents in 1878 he received his education at the Mount Cook School and Wellington College. He joined the staff of the Union Steam Ship Company in 1884. With that firm he served in many capacities, ultimately becoming manager at Launceston. Tasmania, in 1916. He retired from the company s service about three years ago.

morning. Mr Taylor, ■who was sixtyone years of age. was well known in the Ashburton County, having been employed as a stock agent by the Ashburton branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Association for nearly twenty years. Mr Taylor left a short time ago on a holiday trip to the lake country in the south, and was overtaken by a serious illness. He underwent an operation, and his condition improved, but a few days ago he contracted influenza, and died at two o’clock this morning. Mr Taylor, who was born in Geraldine, was one of the most popular and best-known stock agents in Mid-Canter-bury. He possessed a sound knowledge of sheep, and was looked upon as an efficient and capable judge of this class of stock. He leaves a wife and family of two daughters and two sons. Mrs Taylor left for Melbourne a short time ago to attend the centenary celebrations.
