MAGNIFICENT ACTING.
Will Rogers Starred in “ David Harum.”
Will Rogers has brought to life one of the most beloved characters in American fiction with his role in “ David Harum,” which heads this week’s programme at the Crystal Palace Theatre. It is a part that seems to have been created expressly for the dry sardonic humour of the star and he makes an outstanding success of it. He fits so simply and naturally into the character that he cannot help but charm any audience. The romance is shared by Evelyn Venable and Kent Taylor and they are delightfully sincere, although overshadowed by the consummate artistry of Rogers. The film abounds in humour and bright dialogue calculated to please even the most discriminating; nothing is forced and the whole thing goes with a pleasant swing. The “ shorts ” which precede the major attraction are more than usually interesting.
