BRILLIANT EVENT.
Bushland Scene in Town Hall. LORD MAYOR'S BALL. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received November 6, 10.15 a.rri.) MELBOURNE, This Day. One of the most brilliant events of the Centenary celebrations was the Lord Mayor’s ball last night. The Town Hall was transformed into a bushland scene with trees and ferns and a running brook cascading over a boulder-strewn course. The illusion was complete, even bush tracks winding among the shady glades. The Duke of Gloucester attended and expressed admiration at the ingenuity of the decorations. The New Zealanders present includes Messrs D. G. Sullivan, M.P., Cox and Bennett. Distinguished Visitors. Among the visitors who arrived by the Monowai were General Sir Alexander Godley and Major-General Sir Andrew Russell. They were welcomed by war comrades and will take part in the military events at the Centenary.
