NAVY “WIPED OUT.”

Need for Strong British Air Force. United Press Assn.—Bv Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, November 4. The “ Daily Mail ” contends that the lesson of the recent combined manoeuvres of the Army, Navy and Air Force is that, had Britain been actually at war, it is doubtful whether she would at present have a Navy. - “It has shown,” the “Daily Mail” continues, “how ridiculously easily a small number of warplanes can defeat a strong naval force.” It cites Lord Rothermere’s contention that the day of the warship is over. “A desperate deficiency of warplanes has placed England in deadly peril. The Government must immediately start building thousands,” the article concludes.
