HOLIDAYS AT MOUNT COOK
Beauty for the holiday-maker, alpward bound by comfortable motor-car from Timaru, begins as the road winds through the rolling downs of South Canterbury. After Fairlie has been passed, the great mountain panoramas swing into view, and the traveller has a feeling that the truth of the Mount Cook region will surpass any expectations formed from illustrated descriptions of the varied scenes. Happily the Alpine Wonderland has the cosy Hermitage. a fully-equipped modern hotel, to serve as a pleasant base for all manner of outings—climbs or walks—amid marvellous scenery, which includes the largest accessible glaciers of the temperate zones. Here Nature, with clean, clear air and majestic beauty, does her best for the body and mind of every visitor. The tendency of everyone is to 1 -* care-free, buoyant and to share the new-found happiness. That is why the Mount Cook region is so favourably known for the bright spirit of human fellowship which rises and -grows so pleasantly in and about the Hermitage.
