Y.W.C.A. ACTIVITIES.

Visit of Miss N. Moncrieff Discussed. The monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of the Young Women’s Christian Association was held recently, Mrs M. M’Leod presiding. Mrs T. A. M Gibbon, a new member, was granted leave of absence on account of her trip abroad, and Mrs David Jones, another new member, was welcomed to the board. Arrangements were discussed for various gatherings in connection with the visit of Miss Nessie Moncrieff, who is on furlough in New Zealand after four years of Y.W.C.A. work in China. It was reported that invitations had been issued for an “At Home” in the. Clubrooms on Wednesday, November 7, when Miss Moncrieff would be the speaker. The board and commitees would also meet Miss Moncrieff on Thursday morning. November 8. A World Fellowship service would be held in the Y.W.C.A. building on Sunday, November 11, at 4.30 p.m. as the commencement of the Worlds Week of Prayer for the Work of the Y.W.C.A., Y.M.C.A., and Student Christian Federation. Miss Moncrieff would give the address on that occasion, asodal would be followed by Reports were received from the Dunedin Y.W.C.A. of the addresses given by Miss Moncrieff there, and of the exhibition of Chinese art which had been held. It was suggested that the local association might hold such an exhibition when Miss Moncrieff re-visits Christchurch next April. It was stated that during the World’s Week of Prayer, special services would h® in Y.W.C.A. each morning at S 30° an< * vespers each evening at All departments reported a busy month, and plans were being made for summer activities. It was reported that tennis courts had been procured at the Normal School and a club was being formed. A Saturday afternoon cycling club was also being inaugurated. It was hoped to hold a combined senior and junior girls’ camp at New Year.
