DANCE AT RICCARTON.
J Boys’ High School Funds Assisted. ATTRACTIVE DECORATIONS. Another effort, in the form of a dance, was held last evening to augment the funds for a fete, the proceeds of which will be devoted to building a gymnasium at the Christchurch Boys’ High School. The dance, which was arranged by the Riccarton Area Committee, was held in the Riccarton Town Hall. The hall was at- , tractively decorated with greenery and bowls of Iceland poppies. Music was supplied by the Dawson-Winfield Band. Exhibition dances were given by Miss Ivan Manhire and Joan Joyce, and Miss Thelma Picard gave an elocutionary item. Novelty dances added to the enjoyment of the evening. Members of the Dance Committee were: Mr and Mrs A. D. Ford, Mr and Mrs J. T. Burrows, Mr and Mrs 11. P. Smith, Mesdames D. Steele, Baxter O’Neill, J. J. Palmer, R. Sarjent and L. E. Owen. During the evening Mr A. D. Ford, chairman of the Riccarton Area Committee, appealed to those present not only to help, but to become members of the committee. Among those present were: Mesdames Harold Smith, G. Dunn, R. Grant, F. O. Schmidt, A. D. Ford, J. T. Burrows H. P. Smith, D. Steele, Baxter o’Neill’, j! "• Palmer and R. Sarjeant; Misses Vonny Larsen, Moira D’Anvers, Melva Beswick, Charlotte and Ethel Skinner, Kathleen Moore, Rona M’Leod, Mary Syne. Isabel Steele, Elsie Edwards. Nancy Prettejohns, Clarice Tinker, Ruth Clarke, Phillys Cocks, I eenie M’Tainsh, Joyce Sarjeant, Phyllis Ford. Natalie Litchfield, Wyn Parkes, Phyllis Palmer, Joan Joyce, Joan O'Neill, Thelma Rickard, Isla Richards, Nora Weston and Mary South.
