CUP HORSES’ TRIALS.

Track Greasy for Training Work at Trentham. (Special to the " Star.”> WELLINGTON, October 27. The weather set in bad again a< dawn this morning and the trials o the Cup horses still at Trentham were done in heavy rain. So continuous was the downpour that the track sooi became very greasy. Gold Trail ran a mile alone in lmir 53sec each half being done in 57*sec but she was always doing it easily J. M. Cameron returns to take hei south on Monday. Might handled the ground bettei than Walton Park in their nin< furlongs, finishing two lengths clea after running the last mile in lmii 50sec and the last half in 56sec. W. II Jones has been engaged to ride Migh in the Cup. Synagogue and Semper Paratus wen let ot£ with easy tasks. W. J. Brough ton is to ride Synagogue, as usual, ii his engagements. George leaves fo the south with his pair on Wednes day. Grand Sport did a round at three quarter pace with Bay Area anc Sporting Blood did a round of pacing alone. Grand Sport is definitely t< start in the Stewards, but Sportinj Blood will probably run in the Riccai ton Handicap on the first day. L. J Ellis is again to ride the three-yeai old. These two Gisborne horses wil go south on Monday, as will alsi Walton Park, Chaste and Red Sur Red Sun did one of his usual goo< gallops this morning, running his las mile of nine furlongs in lmin 50se alone, each half taking oosec. It %va the best effort of the morning, thoug it came from a hurdler. In jumpin races in the south Red Sun will hav the services of F. Thompson. Vitaphone, another Trentham cat didate for the south, leaves next Wee nesday, but Arctic King is not t make the trip. A. Alexander left last night wit Mr Lowry’s three, Aesculus, Ilau Monde and Kotou.
