Wolsey was one of the early leaders in the Waikanae Handicap and ran on well- to beat Mata Hari. Stitchbird finished fasj, from a furlong out.

Sunny Song led all through in the hurdles, jumping well and heating off Ivahunoke in the straight. Isms gave a promising performance. Gasman refused duty in the Juvenile Handicap and Quaint won comfortably from Airbird, the latter making a good debut and finishing fast.

Sunny Sky annexed the Major Handicap in a three-horse field, turning the tables on Gainsfid over a shorter distance than on Thursday. The race was slow run and the real struggle began at the bend.

Kilberis again ran impressively to win the Trial Handicap, but the performance of Count Willonyx was the main interest of the rare, this runner coming from right behind to beat everything but the favourite.

Marching Song only became prominent in the Waimata field after the turn, but finished strongly. Sunny Bachelor responded well, but beaten in the last fiew strides.

Tai Ao led throughout in the Farewell Handicap, winning meritoriously from Slippery and Foreign Money.

At Caulfield on the course proper Gippsland ran ten furlongs in 2min 21 sec. Shatter assisted over the last nine, taking 2min ssec. Homer beat Lady Primrose and Sally’s Instep over four furlongs in 52seo. Epigram and Journey's End went six furlongs in lmin 21sec. Waikare and Nightly galloped three furlongs in 40sec. Queen Helen and Cape Lllock covered a At Flemington on the course proper, Peter Pan and Sarcheris ran ten furlongs in 2min 19sec, and went nicely. Miramond galloped three furlongs in 4 Usee. Arachne did six furlongs in lmin lolaus and Journal covered a mile easily in lmin 56sec. Tlieo and Sylvandale ran twelve furlongs, the last three taking 42sec. Broad Arrow and Verberry ran ten furlongs in 2min 20isec. Australia Fair covered six furlongs in lmin 2 4 sec. On the grass Preference and Fine Feathers did the best five furlongs of the morning, the time being lmin 3?seo. Chatham went the best two furlongs in 24>sec. Alinura ran nine furlongs in 2mm 2sec, and went nicely.
