ARTISTS’ EXHIBITION.

The annual exhibition of the New Zealand Society of Artists now open at the Art Gallery, Durham Street, attracted a large number of visitors yesterday and to-day, and much interest was shown in the great variety of work displayed. Besides containing the best work of our leading New Zealand painters, comprising New Zealand and foreign landscapes, paintings of flowers, portraits, figures and decorative panels, there is a very interesting group of "modern” work, strange in design but gay and exciting in colour. Throughout the exhibition there is a general high standard of excellence, and it may be regarded as the most important collection of New Zealand artists’ work yet shown In this city.
