British Dominions Films’ talking picture triumph, “ Sorrell and Son,” will have its first screening in Christchurch jft the Civic All-British Theatre on Saturday next. The film will open at the matinee, and a gala performance will start at S p m A classic of literature and a classic of the silent screen,

“ Sorrell and Son ” now comes before the public as one of the talking film successes of the ytar. Critics are agreed that there never was a more striking emotional drama than the silent film, and wherever shown the unanimous opinion has been that the talking version is even better. H. B. Warner again plays Sorrell, the part he made famous. He brings to the new production a rich and eloquent speaking voice, which enables him to make Sorrell stapd out as one of the acting triumphs ot recent years. Owing to the many inquiries received, the management announces that box plans will open on Tuesday at 10 a.m.

The New Brighton Municipal Band will play the following programme from the band rotunda. Central Brighton, tomorrow afternoon, starting at 2.30: Marches, “Free and Easy " (Oilbourne), •‘The Drum Major” (Wright); waltzes.

“Just To-day” (Rassouli), “Wild Roses” (Hale) ; selection, "Village Festival” (Greenwood); suite, "Outre” (Hamblin); entr’acte, “ D’A coord ” (Wilkini); hymn, "Abide With Me” (Dykes).
