Highways Board Asked to Tar Seal Road. (Special to the " Star.”) HOKITIKA, Oct. 20. The tar sealing of roads in the Hokitika borough was considered by the council ia.st evening - , when the following motion was carried: “That this council request the Highways Board to take over the work of preparation and sealing of the highway through the borough fora distance of one mile fortyfour chains, the council to undertake, to pay an estimated amount of £450 10s (plus £ls for supervision), the cost of preparation and sealing.” The sum of £IOO has been paid, and the balance will be paid on demand by the Highways Board immediately after March 51. 1935, so that the greater portion of the cost will be charged against the revenue of the Hokitika Borough Council for the year 1935-36. Call to Minister. A meeting of members of the congregation of the Church of -Christ was held last, evening, when it was decided that a unanimous call "would be extended to Mr A. W. Grundy to be pastor of the new ichurch. A committee was appointed to enter into negotiations with Mr Grundy, and a final decision will be reached at an early date. Mr Grundy has been associated with Mr F. Purnell at the mission ter.t during the past few weeks, acting in the capacity of song leader. Passenger Flight. A flight to South Westland was undertaken yesterday by the Snartan plane piloted by Mr A. XT. Xancekivell. With Mrs Eggeling and her niece as passengers. the plane left here about noon for Okuru. where the ladies landed. Mr Xancekivell returned to Hokitika later in the afternoon.
