TRAMPING EXCURSION.

Films of Trips to Be Shown. A railway excursion to the Avoca district will be held on November 4. The train will leave Christchurch at S a.m. Although the walk is a very short one, the district, surrounding the old coal mine, affords opportunity for some delightful tramping excursions. Good bathing is available. Hot water, tea, milk and sugar will he provided for lunch and afternoon tea at the old mine settlement. Those who prefer it will have the opportunity of going on to Otira. Another fixture of interest to trampers will be the exhibition of hiking films by Mr G Dixon in the Carlyle Sttreet Hall on Tuesday. Community singing and a dance will follow.
