KEEN INTEREST.
Appreciations of Bible Contest. LETTERS FROM READERS. Striking evidence of the interest aroused by the “ Christchurch Times ” Bible Contest is afforded by the letters which reach the “ Times ” every day from enthusiastic entrants. Letters have been received from South Canterbury to Blenheim, and westwards from Greymouth; clergymen have been among other writers who have written for extra copies of the Biblical quotations and pictures.
“ We find the contest more interesting each time," writes a woman reader of the “ Times ” from Kaikoura, " with its memories of the last time we read or heard the different texts used. How many, I wonder, like myself have attributed to Shakespeare, and other writers, proverbs and sayings that we find in the list.”
A final opportunity is offered to enter this fascinating and instructive contest. Copies of all the Biblical pictures up to (and including) the tenth picture, which appeared in today’s “ Times.” together with a full list of Biblical quotations containing solutions to 32 out of the 42 pictures which make up the contest, can be obtained by sending 6d in stamps to the Bible Contest Editor, “ Christchurch Times,” or at the “ Times ” office.
The Bible pictures are published in the “Christchurch Times” each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Seventeen prizes are offered (first £lO, second £5, third £3, and fourteen prizes of 10s each) and successful competitors will have the option of accepting trophies instead of the prize-money if they prefer.
