Sydney Jackson, speedway rider, left Croydon on a flight to Australia today, in an Avro Avian machine fitted with extra tankage, giving it a range of 1500 miles. He hopes to reach Lyons to-night. ITe is maknig an attempt on the England-Australia record. Sydney Jackson is well-known in Australia as a dirt track rider, having competed at speedway meetings last 3*ear in Sydney. He was a FlightLieutenant in the R.A.F. Reserve, and has competed in the King , S'-%up Air race.
