MAJORITY CELEBRATED
Mr and Mrs A Smith Give Party. To celebrate the coming-of-age of their son Hubert, Mr and Mrs A. Smith, of Strickland Street, in conjunction with Mrs Fairhall (Greymouth), an aunt, entertained one hundred relatives and friends In the Selwyn Street Hall on Thursday evening. A pleasant evening was spent dancing to music supplied by the Excelsior Orchestra. Items were Siven by the following artists: Mr D. hepard (tap dancing), Mr V. Claude (yodelling songs, accompanied by guitar), and a, novelty quartette (mouth organ, accordeon, banjo and guitar, by Messrs Cole, Savage, Claude and Thomson). Novelty* dances were won by Misses Mildred Wellbourn and Muriel Kerrison, and Miss Cole and Mr L. Cook. Mr N. C. Thomson was M.C. The red, gold and black colours of the Beckenham Football Club were effectively used in decorating the supper tables. The usual toasts were accorded musical honours.
