SWIMMING.

Canterbury Centre’s Good Season. The annual report of the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand SwimmingAssociation records another highly successful season, the sport in general having made excellent progress. The report will he presented to the annual meeting of members to be held on Tuesday next. One new club affiliated to the centre during the year, bringing the total up to thirteen clubs, and the Canterbury Head Centre of the Royal Life Saving Society affiliated to the centre. Reviewing club activities, the report states that the centre had decided to suspend levy payments to the overseas fund during the year, thus giving clubs a substantial financial relief. At the New Zealand junior and intermediate championships at Palmerston North only one title was secured. Miss R. Low winning the 75yds intermediate girls’ breaststroke championship. Miss Morris finished second .in the intermediate girls' 220yds and third in the intermediate girls’ 100yds events. S. Kingdon gained third in the intermediate boys’ 100yds event. The other competitors swam well, and fully justified the expense of sending them away. The financial statement shows that the centre ended the year with a credit balance of £23 15s sd. The profit on the New Zealand championship meeting, held at the St Albans Baths, was £47 16s 4d. Assets exceed liabilities by £lO5 16s 9d.
