Ashburton Union. (Special to the ’ Star.”) .ASHBURTON. October 1. The Ashburton Rugby Union met toi night, Mr J. C. C. M’Laehlan presiding, i The North Otago Rugby Union wrote , expressing deep appreciation of the hos- ! pitality extended to its players and of- | tlcials on the. occasion ot their recent i visit to Ashburton. Votes of thanks were accorded the j Hakatore and Daphne Lodges for Pn- ! tertaining the Canterbury players on Saturday evening. The Rakaia Club forwarded a cheque for tS. as its guarantee towards the Ashburton County touring team’s expenses next season. The club was ; thanked. The chairman said that there seemed no doubt that the proposed tour would Mr H. Sari ivy (treasurer) tendered his ; resignation as a member of the union. ! It. was agreed to place on record an j appreciation of hia services. I Mr D. F. M’Donald was appointed to fill the vacancy. j This being the .last meeting of \he season, the president (Mr M’Lachlan) I thanked members for their co-operation, 1 and all those who had helped tlie union.
