Lack* Allen and Miss Rona Allen, Dunedin, are spending several weeks in Wellington. Miss Rita Cracroft Wilson, Montreal Street, has returned from a visit to Palmerston North. Mr and Mrs Eric Diehl (St Albans) and their small daughter are the guests of Mrs Diehl’s mother, Mrs M. A. Bell, Karori, Wellington. __ The annual general meeting of the Y.W.C.A. will be held in the association’s rooms, Latimer Square, on Thursday, October 4. Mrs Kay, Scotland, who spent a few months in Christchurch about two years ago, will revisit the Dominion this year. She is expected in Christchurch early in November and will be the guest of Mrs W. Saddler, Fendalton. Miss Mary Spence, who has been treasurer of the Canterbury Women’s Club for many years, was presented with a gold pencil, by the president, on behalf of the executive at the club’s birthday party last evening. Nurse Maude gratefully acknowledges donations from “ M.G.R.” and “To Help Nurse Maude 11 ; rlothing from “ P.F. and A.F.,” Women’s Division Farmers’ Union, Pigeon Baj*, singlets from C.T., Ladbrooks, donation from “ Wellwisher.” Mrs L. C. Anderson, Mount Pleasant, will leave Christchurch on October 10 for Wellington, and will sail by the Marama for Sydney to join the Moretdn Bay, en route to England. Until her departure Mrs Anderson will be the guest of Mrs FI. Wagstaff, Bethany, Mount Pleasant. Mr and Mrs A. A. Boon and Miss lima Bishop, New Brighton, will leave to-morrow night and will join the Monterey at Auckland on a trip to Melbourne and Sydnej*. Mrs H. H. Bishop will accompany them to the North Island.
Mrs W. H. Cowper, Merivale Lane, who has been visiting friends in North Canterbury, has returned home. Mrs T. Phillips, The Point, Windwhistle, is visiting her daughter, Mrs Edgar Stead, “ Ilam,” Riccarton. Mrs Deans, Riccarton House, returned last night from a visit to relatives in North Canterbur3*. Miss R. Allen. Dunedin, is the guest of Mr W. H. Montgomer}*, Wairewa, Little River. Mrs C. S. Cantrell, Havelock, is spending a holiday in North Canterbury and Christchurch. Miss Mary M’Lean. St Andrew’s Square, returned to Christchurch yesterday from a trip to Samoa. Misses Bett}* Cotterill and Jean Webster, St Elmo Courts, have returned from a visit to Mrs C. Rattray, Dunedin. Mrs J. Lawrie and her niece, Miss Marjorie Williamson, Armagh Street, will leave on Thursday for Wellington, en route to Australia. Miss Ph3*llis Boyle is at present the guest of Mrs George Helmore, Fendalton. In a few weeks she will join her brother, Mr A. P. Bo\*le, at Amberle3*. Miss M. G. Ilavelaar, chairman of the Women’s Auxiliar3* of the Mayor's Relief of Distress Fund, wishes to acknowledge with grateful thanks an anonymous gift of 5s towards the fund. Mr and Mrs L. Peacock, Denniston, arrived in Christchurch on Saturday evening to spend a short holiday* with Mrs E. Mowbray, Somerfield Street, Somerfield. Miss E. Andrews, New PU'mouth, Dominion secretary of the New Zealand Pan-Pacific Committee, will arrive in Christchurch from the West Coast on Saturday evening, and will be the guest of Miss H. Hull, Canon Street. She will leave early next week for Dunedin.
