An exceptionally dry month was experienced in Palmerston North in September, there being only S 6 points of rain. It was the driest month for twenty years. Despite the cyclonic winds in Wairarapa and heavy gales in Wellington and surrounding districts. Palmerston North has had calm, mild conditions, with intermittent rain since Saturday evening. . }
