General O’Duffy Secures Following. United Frees Assn.— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, September 29. The Dublin correspondent of the “ Sunday Dispatch ” says that in spite of the threats of Commander Cronin, the recently-elected leader of the United Ireland Party, more than a dozen Blue Shirts, all county directors, attended a conference called by General O’Duffy, who recently resigned the leadership of the party. General O'Duffy claims . that there has been a landslide in his favour and that he has the support of eighteen of the twenty-three directors. Delegates from all parts of Ireland attended the first Republican Congress formed after the split in the Republican Army. Mr George Gilmore, formerly a member of the headquarters staff of the Republican Army, declared that the Congress was primarily in revolt against the Army’s surrender of leadership to Mr de Valera.
