Another Party.
New Political Group to be Formed. (“Star” Parliamentary Reporter.”) WELLINGTON, September 24. 'JHIE ANNOUNCEMENT of the formation of a new political party is expected in Auckland to-day. The new party, it is stated, will be backed by the United Kingdom Manufacturers’ and New Zealand Exporters’ Reciprocal Trade Federation. The party, it is understood, will make a bid to capture all the South Auckland and Waikato seats held by the Government, including Tauranga, which is held by the Hon C. E. Macmillan; Rotorua, held by Mr Clinkard; Hauraki, held by Mr W. W. Massey; Franklin, held by Mr J. N. Massey; Raglan, held by Mr D. S. Reid; Hamilton, held by the lion J. A. Young; and Waikato, held by’ Mr Lye. The moving spirit behind the movement, according to information received in Wellington, is Mr W. Goodfellow, and the plan is to establish in the House a solid block pledged to a policy of free trade with Britain. Already the whole of the Dominion has been covered by the federation’s agent, Mr Albert Russell, and his reception in some quarters was not as good as was anticipated, although in the Waikato, where the influence of Mr Goodfellow is strong, there is said to be a considerable amount of support waiting for the new organisation.
