OBITUARY.

Former Union Company Captain. {Special to the “Star.”) DUNEDIN, September 24. The death is announced of Captain Norman Beaumont, 77 years of age, a former master of many Union vessels, including the Flora, Te Anau, I Mouta, Tarawera, Waihora and Tarinui. j Later he was pilot at Auckland, and then Government Mercantile Marine j Superintendent in Dunedin. Captain Beaumont invented the Salvus life jacket.
