VOCAL RECITAL.

Fine Classical Programme Presented. Tlie vocal recital given by Miss Cecily Audibert in the Radiant Hall on Saturday evening was most successful not only because of her fine singing qualities but also because she gave a programme of songs, mostly classical, that concertgoers rarely hear. Miss Audibert has a splendid voice, of nice, round quality. She interprets her songs with an artistic temperament, putting just the right amount of emphasis. In one or two of her songs there were signs of straining in the top notes. In all of her songs her main object was interpretation, and the manner in which she carried it through was a credit, to her excellent qualities. Miss Audibert opened with a group of songs by Schubert, Schumann and Brahms. Of her next bracket, consisting of more modern compositions, Peter Warlock's “ Chop Cherry ” was delightful for the splendid “ mezzo voce ” imparted to it. The third group consisted of “Arietta” (Legrenzi), “ Danza Fanciulla ” (Durante) and “L’Amero” (Mozart). This series was transcribed by Miss Dorothy Pilkins, a local musician. The most enjoyable feature of the concert was the group of operatic arias. Despite the fact that Miss Audibert had already sung seventeen songs, her voice was as fresh as ever when she hopran Puccini’s “ In Quelle Trine Morbide ” from “ Manon.” The difficulties of this aria were easily overcome. “II est Doux, II est Bon ” (Massenet), sung with expression, and “ Una Voce Poco Fa” (Rossini) showed the singer to be possessed of dramatic vocal power. Miss Aileen Warren played the accompaniments for Miss Audibert with her usual skill and sympathy.
