NEW LAUNCH.

Mr T. Gough’s Friendship at Lyttelton. TRIP FROM WELLINGTON'.' Mr 1 racy Gough’s motor cruiser Friendship, which was recently launched at Picton. arrived at Lyttelton at 1.10 p.m. to-day. Ihe Friendship left Wellington at noon yesterday, in a strong nor’-nor’-\yest wind. She arrived at Pencarrow Heads at 12.59 p.m., and was off Cape Campbell at 4 p.m., where there was still a strong w’inl, with fairly heavy seas. As the Friendship neared Kaikoura the weather became calmer. The Friendship was built at Picton by Mr E. Lane, for Mr Gough. She is 48ft overall, with a beam of 12ft 6in and a draught of 6ft. She is fitted with a 40 h.p. motor, and has auxiliary machinery for hoisting the anchors, supplying electric light and driving pumps for washing down the deck. The engine-room is fitted amidships, under the pilot house. This enables extra accommodation to be provided. Foriard she has a four-berth cabin. The pilot-room can accommodate three, the saloon four and the after-cabin two. She carries about 630 ft of canvas which she employed in the trip down as far as Kaikcura. Mr C. Headland was in charge on the trip south. Others on board were the owner, Mr T. Gough, and Messrs O. Gough. A. Lambert, R. Boulton and C. E. M Millan. Mr Headland said the craft behaved splendidly on the trip from Wellington.
