EMPIRE SOCIETY.
Party of Thirteen to Tour New Zealand. Members of the Royal Empire Society, who will represent the society at the Melbourne Centenary’, will visit Christchurch on September 18, while on a tour of New Zealand. There will
be thirteen in the party, and they will spend two days in the city. The names of the visitors are as follows:—Lady Moore, Mrs Whittle, Mrs A. R. Dixon, Mrs M. E. Halliday, Mr and Mrs W. Caton, Miss M. Adams, Miss Norah Whittle, Messrs P. H. Adams, G. A. H. Chapman, Percy j Burrell, A. D. Mellish and C. Mar- j shall Smith. Lady Moore is a greatgranddaughter of John Batman, the founder of Melbourne. Mr P. H. Adams, who is a fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects, will lead the party. Mr C. Marshall Smith is an author.
While in Christchurch the party will be entertained by members of the local branch of the society and will spend some time visiting places of scenic beauty.
