Another new lambing season in Cambridge has not been without its batch of freak births and growths, the most extraordinary being the birth of a 201 b lamb to a Southdown ewe on the property of Mr A. P. Robinson, of Roto-o-Rangi. This monster lamb, which must be nearly a world’s record, is still alive and well, though it was a little weak on its legs the first few days. Several other extra heavy lambs have been born in the district. On Mr E. Jeans’s property at Whitehall two South-down-Romney-cross lambs, weighing 124 and 141 b respectively, were born, but both died soon after birth. The same farmer had four lots of twins born among the first 25 of his cows to calve.
