Evading the Issue.
Dear Sir, —Your correspondent, Mr C. R. Russell, has made the position much clearer in regard to the duties and apparent limitations of the Broadcasting Beard. Apparently I owe the board an apology for my letter, in which I, perhaps, was a little hasty in charging it with another .department's action. However, when dealing with a public body it is extremely difficult to find exactly who is responsible for any action of which one disapproves. In the meantime, in spite of Mr Russell’s comparatively lucid letter, the main issue (why was 3ZM banned from broadcasting the Test* has been evaded. In other words, what is the reason for Part 4, paragraph 135, of the Radio Regulations, 1932? If the P. and T. Department is responsible for banning the cricket broadcast from a B class station, when the Broadcasting Board showed neither the initiative nor the desire tS satisfy cricket listeners, then an explanation from the department would be much appreciated.—l am, etc., R.C.H.
