STILL COMING DOWN.

Portion of Roof Off Carey’s Building. With one tenant isolated on the upstairs floor, the demolition gang is proceeding with its work on Carey’s building. A large portion of the roof has now been removed, but the part over the tenant’s room was still intact early this afternoon. The tenant still in possession of her room is Mrs G. Stribling, who conducts the Rose Marie toilet salon. Her lease does not expire until August 13. The building is being demolished to make way for the new State Theatre which is to be built for Amalgamated Theatres, Ltd. Mr 11. G. Livingstone, South Island representative for the theatre interests, stated to-day that the solicitors of the parties interested were to discuss the situation this afternoon.
