THE BRISTOL SCHEME.
Canvass to Be Made in City. Christchurch and suburbs' have been divided into fifty-nine districts by the Christchurch Rotary Qlub and supporting institutions for the purpose of making a systematic canvass in support of the Bristol scheme. This course was taken last evening at a meeting of members of the Rotary Club and representatives of the Presbytery, the National Council of Women, the Y.M.C.A., the Real Estate Institute, the Returned Soldiers’ Association, the Commercial Travellers’ Association, the Chamber of Commerce and the Citizens’ Association. Mr J. Mawson Stewart presided. Various schemes were discussed and it was decided to appoint organisers, with the title of captain, for each of the fifty-nine districts. A number were appointed at the meeting and the chairman said it was hoped to complete the appointments in the next few days. The Rotary Club was anxious to secure assistance from other organisations in the provision of canvassing teams. The chairman added that work to produce an expenditure of £23,000 had been already carried out or would be done shortly under the scheme. It was hoped to double that figure as the result of the canvass.
