WEDDING

Velvet Frocks in Primrose and Blue. LEADLEY- ROBINSON. The wedding took place on Saturday of Greta, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs W. H. Robinson, Wellington Street, Ashburton, and Roland F. Leadley, third son of the late Mr and Mrs G. W. Leadley, Elgin. The Rev G. B. Hinton officiated and Miss R. Porter was at the organ. During the signing of the register, Miss M. M’Allister sang a solo. The church had been tastefully decorated by Sister Mildred in autumn shades and spring flowers. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a frock of primrose yellow windswept silk velvet cut with military epaulettes and panels forming a long train. Half belts were finished with matching cut-glass buckles on each hip and the bodice was trimmed with small covered buttons and a tie at the back of the neck. Long straight sleeves finished in a point over the hands. The veil of the same shade was made in cap style and embroidered in primrose yellow and blue. It was held in position with a spray of orange blossom on each side and fell in folds to a long train. Her bouquet was of Christmas roses, narcissi and arum lilies. As the bride left the church, Daphne Tutty presented her with a small solid silver horseshoe.

The bridesmaids, Misses L. Robinson and M. Rattray, sister and cousin of the bride, were gowned alike in azure blue windswept silk velvet cut on diagonal lines and trimmed with silver buttons. The frocks were high necked and the sleeves were cut in pointed shoulder effect. They wore primrose yellow felt hats which were trimmed with silver buckles and ribbon to match. They carried shower bouquets of yellow and cream narcissi and maidenhair fern. Two small flowergirls, May and Joan Crawford, nieces of the bridegroom, were also in attendance. They were dressed alike in shell pink georgette, and yokes of silk velvet to match. The long skirts were petalled and edged with frills. They wore Alice in Wonderland silver bandeaux and carried silk velvet muffs on which rested sprays of spring flowers. The bridegroom was attended bv his two brothers, Messrs Eric and Noel Leadley. Mr and Mrs Robinson received the guests later at Lewitt’s reception rooms. Mrs Robinson was wearing a frock of black crinkle crepe with yoke of pink and white. The full sleeves to the elbow were fastened to the shoulder with white buttonholes and black and pink covered buttons, while the black cuffs were banded in pink and white. She wore a black felt hat with a white osprev mount along the crown and a black conev coat with skunk opossum collars and cuffs. For travelling, the bride wore a brown tailored suit under a lido blue diagonal cloth coat with fox fur trimmings and a brown felt hat. Mr and Mrs Leadlev will make their future home at Woodlands.
