MR HUGHES DIRECTOR.
Only Australians on Staff of New Air Company. LON'DO.V, July 14. Mr Hughes, M.H.R., has accepted a directorship in the new company which has been formed to operate air services in the Eastern States of Australia. The company has acquired the planes, equipment and hangars of New England Airways. It w’ill extend the existing Brisba-ne-Sydney service to Melbourne, and introduce commercial night flying. Mr Hughes accepted the directorship on condition that only Australians should be employed. Mr H. C. Armstrong, who was associated with the formation of the company on behalf of the British Pacific Trust, announces that only Australians will be employed, except in the initial stages, when a few experts will be temporarily engaged in a ground survey and making signal arrangements, with a view to ensuring safety.
