“LITTLE WOMEN.”
Charming and Beautifully Directed Film. “Little Women,” showing this week at the Tivoli Theatre, is one of the most charming, best acted, and most beautifully v directed pictures ever to come to this city. It is a perfect translation of Louisa May Alcott’s famous book. Not a line beloved by memory has been changed, not a remembered scene has been left out. And if there are some slight alterations in the times and places of a few incidents, those alterations are still in keeping with the' spirit of the story, and have been made necessary by the length of the two books (“Little Women” and “Good Wives”) which are combined in the film. It is not merely an adaptation but a translation, and rarely before has the complete spirit of a beautiful book been so captured. Besides the excellent photography and brilliant direction, the film is graced by ohe of the finest casts ever assembled. It is headed by Katherine Ilepburn, whose honest and strong Jo is a memorable triumph. The supports are first class.
